Is Kevin Hart’s and Mark Wahlberg’s Me Time Worth Watching?
Directed by John Hamburg, Me Time is a comedy short film featuring some of my favourite actors; Kevin Hart and Mark Walberg.
It is a movie about a summer break where Sonny’s wife, Maya, decides to take the kids to their grandparents’ home. As a result, Sonny has time to himself for the first time in a long time. He tries to find a way to spend this time by going to strip clubs, golfing, and barbecues and eventually accepts Huck’s invitation.
This celebration quickly turns into a mess, almost ruins Sonny’s marriage, and drives a wedge between the 2 best friends.
Kevin Hart as Sonny Fisher
The movie revolves around the lives of these two main characters.
Kevin Hart plays Sonny Fisher, a stay-at-home dad with two kids and married to an architect, Maya Fisher. He spends most of his time looking after his kids while his wife is at work.
And even though he enjoys it, he finds it hard to mingle with professionals in luncheons and other places where his wife takes him. I love how Kevin Hart brings his Ride Along vibe to this movie.
Mark Wahlberg as Huck Dembo
Mark Wahlberg, on the other hand, plays Huck, Sonny’s long-lost friend who used to make Sonny do all this crazy stuff during his birthday.
And he has recently invited Sonny to his 44th birthday, which Sonny keeps rejecting since he believes “he has grown up” and shouldn’t be doing this kind of stuff anymore.
I have seen Mark Wahlberg’s Work in Action Movies (The Fighter) and comedy movies (Ted) and love how he brings these two sides of him out in this film.
Other Characters

· Regina Hall — Regina Hall plays Maya Fisher, a respectable lawyer who loves her wife and respects what he does around the house. Her relationship with Armando (Luis Gerardo Mendez), a client, makes Sonny Jealous, and Sonny ends up doing a lot of annoying stuff during the spree in “revenge,” believing he is in a “chess match” with Armando. Other works Hall has done include Scary Movie and Black Monday.
· Luis Gerardo Mendez — As earlier mentioned, he plays Armando, Maya’s client. He was also quite good in Narcos: Mexico and Club De Cuarvos.
· Jimmy O. Yang — Jimmy plays Stan Berman, a businessman to whom Huck Dembo owns money. In the process of claiming his money from him, he tracks Huck down and Dorit, his assistant, almost breaks Sonny’s finger.
· Seal — Seal appears as himself towards the end and performs a song, Crazy, with Kevin Hart.
Is It Worth Watching?
I believe it is. I must admit, it’s been a long time since I watched a good comedy, and this one makes for an excellent movie to watch on a family weekend.
